Saudi Ambassador Hosts Eid Al-Adha Prayer

WASHINGTON, Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir hosted Eid Al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) prayer at the embassy this morning to mark the end of the annual Hajj. After the prayer, the Ambassador hosted a breakfast for members of the Saudi and Muslim community in Washington and embassy staff. An estimated 350 people attended the prayer and breakfast.

Ambassador Al-Jubeir extended his greetings, stating "On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, I would like to wish you, your families and the Muslim community around the world a blessed Eid. May God unite us to bring peace and prosperity to all people around the world."

The Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam and the most significant manifestation of Islamic faith and unity. For the past 14 centuries, Muslim pilgrims gather in Makkah to perform rituals based on those conducted by the Prophet Muhammad during his last visit to the city.
