SASB Announces Calendar of Public Comment Periods through 2015
Invites the Public to Provide Feedback on Draft Sustainability Standards for Remaining Nine Sectors
SAN FRANCISCO, May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board™ (SASB)™ announces the start of public comment period for sustainability accounting standards for the Financials sector and releases the public comment period calendar for its remaining nine sectors. The public comment period for Health Care occurred in March 2013.
For the next 45 days, the general public can comment on public exposure drafts of standards for seven industries in the Financials sector: Commercial Banks, Investment Banking & Brokerage, Asset Management & custody activities, Mortgage Finance, Consumer Finance and Insurance. The public exposure drafts include feedback from 225 experts who participated in SASB's Financials Industry Working Groups, representing $1.1T market capital and $4.9T in assets under management. The Financials sector standards will be released in draft form subsequent to technical review by SASB's Standards Council. They will remain in draft form until 2015.
SASB will issue a public comment period for each of the 88 industries in ten sectors for which it develops standards. SASB is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standards-setting organization and offers an accessible and transparent process. The anticipated dates for the remaining public comments periods are:
- Technology & Communication, August 1, 2013
- Non-Renewable Resources, November 1, 2013
- Transportation, February 1, 2014
- Services, May 1, 2014
- Resource Transformation, August 1, 2014
- Consumption, November 1, 2014
- Renewable Resources & Alternative Energy, February 1, 2015
- Infrastructure, May 1, 2015
