WEST ALLIS, Wis., Aug. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Two Sartori Originals were honored at the 2016 Blue Ribbon Cheese & Butter Auction, culminating the dairy contest at the Wisconsin State Fair. At the annual event, wheels and blocks of the blue ribbon winners were auctioned off with proceeds benefiting student scholarships specializing in agricultural or dairy fields. Sartori's wheels raised more than $4,000, contributing to the $36,245 total from all 28 blue ribbon winners.
"We're humbled and honored to see our winning wheels contribute to such a great cause," said Jim Sartori, CEO and owner of Sartori.
This year's Wisconsin State Fair Cheese & Butter Contest included 340 entries from cheesemakers and dairy producers located throughout the state. Besides the strong showings from BellaVitano® Gold and Pastorale Blend®, the newest addition to the Sartori family, Chipotle BellaVitano, continued on its recent winning streak at both international and national contests by securing 2nd place in the increasingly competitive flavored cheese category.
"We've had a great run at the State Fair these past couple of years," said Mike Matucheski, one of Sartori's Master Cheesemakers and four-time winner of "Grand Master Cheese Maker" at the Wisconsin State Fair Cheese & Butter Contest. "Making world-class cheese is one thing, but keeping it consistent is another challenge entirely. A whole lot of dedicated people are behind these awards."
