WALLDORF, Germany, May 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As demand by companies to provide business users faster access to critical business information continues to grow, more customers are turning to the SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) application powered by the SAP HANA® database as the optimal choice. SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA offers a high-performing and flexible data warehouse environment, essential to enable a more responsive and effective workforce. SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA was the most successful early adopter program in company history. The general availability was announced in April, more than a month ahead of schedule and with a growing list of more than 90 customers. NongFu Spring, USHA International Limited and Yazaki Europe are already among the many customers that have successfully implemented SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA.

SAP customers in the pilot program have already experienced impressive performance gains in their instances of SAP NetWeaver BW, leading to faster reporting, data loading and information access. For many, such as Lenovo and USHA, specific reports ran over 20 times faster with SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA than when running SAP NetWeaver BW on their standard platforms. Customers were able to dramatically shorten the decision window by delivering information into the hands of business users faster and enabling them to be more responsive. Early adopters of SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA include Hilti, HomeTrust, NongFu Spring, USHA, Yazaki and many more.
"We are delivering end-to-end performance improvement to our customers with faster load times eliminating long run batch jobs and faster analysis while simplifying the customer landscape with a single persistent database that runs underneath an existing SAP NetWeaver BW system non-disruptively reducing data footprint and operational costs," said Dr. Vishal Sikka, member of the SAP Executive Board, Technology & Innovation. "This is software engineering at its best and customers will continue to benefit from these incredible advances."
NongFu Spring Experiences Smooth Migration, Faster Performance
NongFu Spring, the largest producer of bottled water in China, started using SAP NetWeaver BW for reporting, which greatly improved its decision speed. In 2010, the data volume in its SAP NetWeaver BW system sharply increased to 3TBs. The overall performance started to degrade, affecting business users' productivity and prompting the company to look at other options.
"At that time, SAP NetWeaver BW was running on an Oracle database, and we found that the data display and reporting performance was very slow. To solve this problem, we opted to adopt SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA," said Patrick Hoo, CIO, NongFu Spring. "We are so satisfied with the operation and speed of the entire implementation. According to feedback from end users, the speed of their standard SAP NetWeaver BW reports has been improved greatly and is now very fast. In addition, the running of the whole production system is stable with fast speed of the data extract, ETL and incremental updates."
SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA gave NongFu Spring faster performance and better operations, while protecting original SAP NetWeaver BW user experience and investment developing DSOs, cubes and reports based on SAP NetWeaver BW.
USHA Gains Greater Visibility Across Enterprise, Optimizes Operations
From sewing machines to ceiling fans, USHA International Limited has products in almost every household in India. USHA wants to continue building on this success with timely, market-driven business decisions. But just as India's demand for consumer products has grown, so has the complexity of running a business that spans a nation of more than 1.2 billion people. To remain ahead of the competition, USHA needed full visibility across this widespread supply chain and the ability to respond rapidly to changing market demands. It also needed faster performance from a business warehouse that had been growing by more than 20 percent annually in recent years.
"We have a lot of business data," said Subodh Dubey, group CIO, USHA International Limited. "Yet to take full advantage of this resource, we need high-performance business analytics as well. That means faster data loads and faster query response times. That's why we chose SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA to enable lightning-quick data analysis."
USHA worked closely with SAP® Consulting and SAP® Enterprise Support services throughout the implementation process. This helped USHA complete the entire rollout in only four weeks. Today, USHA is using SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA to gain faster insights and support more effective decision-making in operations such as supply chain, procurement, finance and sales. SAP HANA has significantly improved performance in terms of better data compression, faster data loads and reduced query response times, enabling USHA to maximize the value of its business data. And the ability to quickly analyze secondary sales data and check progress against monthly sales also helps the sales force achieve established targets.
"Reports on cash-flow and daily sales are now available at the click of a button," added Dubey. "For the first time we have sales visibility down to individual SKU and regional levels."
Yazaki Europe Accelerates Processes for Production, Logistics and Finance
Yazaki Europe, an automotive supplier and the world's largest producer of wiring harnesses for cars and trucks, had been using the 3.5 version of SAP NetWeaver BW. The company was having challenges with the performance of the existing reporting system.
"We chose SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA to improve and accelerate several processes in the areas of finance and controlling, production and logistics," said Salim Siddiqi, CIO, Yazaki Europe. "So far, we have already seen major improvements and were able to accelerate some processes within finance and controlling, such as end-of-month closing, year-end closing and other common analysis in the area of controlling. Our next big step will be the acceleration of processes within the productive ERP system, among others in the area of production and logistics."
With SAP NetWeaver BW powered by SAP HANA, Yazaki Europe has been able to accelerate reporting and is now accessing reports faster out of info cubes and using creativity within reporting. In addition, the company is leveraging in-memory processing for fast acceleration of raw tables, calculations and business warehouse metadata.
