Santa Rita Ranch Brings Natural Gas Service to All Homes
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa Rita Ranch in Liberty Hill Texas is now bringing natural gas service to all 500 lots in the community. This recent enhancement provides the residents of Santa Rita Ranch a substantial advantage over their nearby neighbors as this community is the only master-planned residential development in the nearby area currently offering gas service.
The development originally provided propane service to all residents, but when natural gas became available, the developer jumped at the chance and established a partnership with Atmos Energy to bring natural gas to the community. "Existing homeowners are now converted from propane, and natural gas is being designed into all homes under construction and those in the planning phases by the various builders," said Ed Horne, co-developer of Santa Rita Ranch. "The existing homes that switched to propane will save significant money in the long run by lowering utility bills and will quickly pay back the up-front conversion cost."
Natural gas is preferred by many homeowners because it is affordable and desirable. On average, natural gas will lower a resident's utility bill by two times compared to propane. Natural gas also provides warmer heat, provides more hot water, and lets residents have amenities like gas grills, a gas fireplace and outdoor gas appliances.
Environmentally, natural gas reduces a home's carbon footprint by producing less greenhouse gas emissions. Natural gas appliances meet many green building codes and carry the Energy Star rating. It is one of the cleanest, safest, and most desirable of all energy sources. Natural gas is also abundant -- North America has more than a 100 year supply of natural gas -- and the gas industry provides jobs and supports local economies.
Santa Rita Ranch is a 3,100-acre community located north of Austin near Liberty Hill, two miles off 183 North, just north of the Hwy 29 and Parmer Lane (Ronald Reagan) intersection. It is developed by Elizabeth and Ed Horne and Mariner Real Estate, with a distinctive Hill Country style.
