MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Never one to shy away from the camera, Santa Claus snapped the world's largest "elfie" with more than 500 children at Mall of America. In honor of Veteran's Day, 50 United States Marines also joined the man in red.
"We plan for an entire year to make sure Santa's arrival is engaging and memorable for our guests," said Dan Jasper, VP of communications at Mall of America. "In past years, the Mall has seen Santa ziplining, dancing his way in with the Rockettes, and coasting in on the Mall's indoor roller coaster. This year, he arrived by train."
According to a recent 2015 consumer forecast from the International Council of Shopping Centers, 50 percent of parents with children ages 13 or younger plan to make a trip to a shopping center specifically to visit Santa.
Mall of America's Santaland is even more magical this year with larger-than-life, nostalgic toys to delight millions of guests. Santaland features 29 glimmering, silver trees and custom décor, from a 6-foot-tall rocking horse to a towering, animatronic jack-in-the-box.
Mall of America hosts more than 120,000 guests daily during the holiday season, which officially kicked off this year on November 11 with Santa's Arrival.
