SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Dec. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa Cruz County Bank (OTC: SCZC), a top rated, high performing bank, announced its Board of Directors' declaration of a quarterly cash dividend in the amount of $0.05 per share. The dividend is payable on January 10, 2018 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on December 29, 2017. This is the nineteenth consecutive quarterly cash dividend declared by the bank. In addition to cash dividends, a 10% stock dividend was granted to shareholders in November 2017. This cash dividend will be paid on January 10, 2018, based upon the aggregate number of shares owned by shareholders of record as of December 29, 2017, including those shares recently distributed to shareholders as the result of the 10% stock dividend.
The bank reported a record $2.1 million in net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2017; an increase of 29%, compared to the quarter ended September 30, 2016. This represented a 14.92% return on average equity for the quarter. The book value per share of Santa Cruz County Bank's common stock at September 30, 2017 was $25.75, compared to $23.15 as of December 31, 2016. Shareholders' equity grew to $54.6 million, a 15% or $7.1 million increase compared to September 30, 2016.
