Santa Clara County REALTOR® Foundation Donates School Supplies to Foster Children
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Santa Clara County REALTOR® Foundation donated a large number of school supplies to local foster children, helping them begin the new school year with the required tools to learn.
The foundation is the charitable arm of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS®. The donations went to the Kinship, Adoptive & Foster Parent Association of Santa Clara County, a non-profit that provides support and resources for foster and adoptive families in Silicon Valley.
The social service agency is faced with providing care to a record number of foster children this year, KAFPA Executive Director Denise Marchu said. The foundation's donations include backpacks, pencil boxes, erasers, pencils, notebooks, binders and crayons.
"One of the best chances foster children have to succeed in life is to get a good education," SCCAOR President Mike Sibilia said. "As the school year starts, we see it as a great opportunity to help make a difference for the less fortunate children in our community. We are proud of our REALTOR® and affiliate members who make generous donations to this important cause."
