Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® Opens Second Foreclosure Center in Partnership With City of San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Partnering with the City of San Jose, the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® recently opened a second ForeclosureHelp Center in the region for homeowners at risk of losing their homes. The association has recruited more than 50 REALTOR® volunteers to staff the center.

SCCAOR and the city opened the first ForeclosureHelp Center in 2009. Volunteers at the centers answer homeowners' questions, review their documents, and point them to resources that can further help them. More than 1,300 homeowners have contacted the first center, some from as far as California's Central Valley.

"REALTORS® understand the plight of homeowners in financial distress and they are willing to set aside time to help these homeowners," said Karl Lee, president of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS®. "We thank our volunteers for their dedication to the community and their tireless work."

The new center is located at the San Jose City Hall to better help city employees affected by San Jose's budget cut. The city, to close a gaping budget shortfall, has cut the salaries of thousands of employees and laid off hundreds more.
