SANS Institute Returns to Northern Virginia for Cybersecurity Training Event
Keynote to Debunk the Myths, Outright Lies and Confusion Surrounding Taking Active Action against Attackers
BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced its return to Reston with SANS Northern Virginia 2015 taking place March 9 – 14. Keynoting the event is SANS Senior Instructor, John Strand, who will demonstrate the Active Defense Harbinger Distribution, a DARPA funded, free Active Defense virtual machine.
"It may be difficult to fully grasp what truly impacts the security of an organization versus what is simply product marketing hype," said John Strand, SANS Senior Instructor, "SANS' training is the nexus between attacks and defenses, chock full of vital information for thwarting today's nastiest attacks."
SANS Northern Virginia will offer courses to help information security professionals tackle some of today's most complex attacks. For example, the SEC504: Hacker Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling course will help individuals who lead or are a part of an incident handling team turn the tables on computer attackers by providing valuable insight into the tactics and strategies used by attackers. The SEC561: Intense Hands-on Pen Testing Skill Development course features more than 30 hours of intense lab time making this SANS' most hands-on course ever. Students will interact with brand new and custom-developed scenarios built just for this course on the innovative NetWars challenge infrastructure.
SANS Northern Virginia 2015 is part of a larger event, SANS Capital Region 2015. This event is made up of SANS Cyber Guardian 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland on March 2-7 and SANS Northern Virginia in Reston March 9 - 14. SANS Cyber Guardian is open to cyber security professionals in the public and private sectors who want to expand their knowledge as well as elite cyber security professionals participating in SANS' Cyber Guardian Program.
