SANS Institute Returns to D.C. for SANSFIRE 2013 with Evening Talks by the Internet Storm Center Incident Handlers
BETHESDA, Md., March 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS today announced that it is returning to the Hilton Washington campus for SANSFIRE 2013. Slated for June 15 – 22, SANSFIRE 2013 will offer students 40 information security courses taught by the top practitioners in the industry.
For more than 10 years, the Internet Storm Center (ISC) has provided free analysis and warning to the Internet community. Each evening during SANSFIRE 2013, the ISC incident handlers will share riveting talks on their most interesting experiences and newest cyber hazards. Some of this year's highlights include a talk by ISC incident handler Rob VandenBrink about the security aspects of Fiber Channel. Jim Clausing will teach attendees how to build an automated Android malware analysis lab.
"SANS courses focus on what you really need to know to quickly improve the security in your organization," said Adan Lopez Sanchez with Jazz Aviation a previous SANSFIRE student. Tri Bui, with the City of Los Angeles, adds "Attending security training from SANS gives me broader perspective to prepare/respond to threats/risks in the work environment to support my business/org needs."
22 of the hands-on courses at SANSFIRE 2013 are associated with a GIAC Certification. GIAC Certification holders possess comprehensive network security skills to protect critical IT infrastructure.
Attendees will also benefit from the 'State of the Internet' panel discussion with moderators Dr. Johannes Ullrich and Marcus Sachs. This is the greatest opportunity to meet ISC incident handlers from around the world. Panelists include Richard Porter, Jim Clausing, Rob VandenBrink, Russ McRee, Manuel Humberto Santander Palaez, and Jason Lam. 'State of the Internet' will be held the evening of June 17th.
In conjunction with SANSFIRE 2013, SANS will host NetWars Tournament Play competition, an intense interactive, cyber range challenge environment for computer attacks and defenses. NetWars will be held on June 21 and 22.
