SANS' ICS Security Summit to Offer First-Time Insight into New Research on the ICS Threat Landscape
Prominent ICS Practitioners will Share New Tools and Techniques to Defend Control Systems
BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the agenda for the 12th Annual Industrial Control System (ICS) Security Summit and Training taking place March 20-27 in Orlando, Florida. Included among the discussions is a keynote by Dragos CEO, Robert M. Lee and Director of Threat Operations, Ben Miller, entitled Exploring the Unknown ICS Threat Landscape. This presentation will be the first public discussion on this unique ICS research and offer real-world findings and conclusions on the impact to the ICS space.
According to Robert M. Lee, "The research we've been doing at Dragos which we will be unveiling for the first time at the SANS ICS Summit includes peeling back aspects of the ICS cyber threat landscape. Supply chain security has been a hot topic with regards to where asset owners are installing and utilizing ICS software but not a lot has been shown regarding the threat. Ben Miller and I will be showcasing a unique look at adversary attempts to compromise ICS infrastructure and recommend practical defenses for the infrastructure community."
The Summit will bring together ICS industry leaders and in-the-field practitioners for two days of in-depth talks and panel discussions, live demonstrations, exclusive networking opportunities, and hands-on challenges. Attendees will learn the latest methods and techniques for defending control systems from very real threats. Following the Summit, SANS will host seven world-class information security courses taught by real-word practitioners. Some of the ICS experts presenting at the summit are:
- Mike Assante, Industrials & Infrastructure Practice, ICS/SCADA Lead, SANS Institute
- Clint Bodungen, Senior Researcher, Critical Infrastructure Threat Analysis, Kaspersky Lab, North America
- Markus Braendle, Group Head of Cybersecurity, ABB
- Vladimir Dashchenko, Senior Research Developer, Critical Infrastructure Threat Analysis, Kaspersky Lab
- Marty Edwards, Director of the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT), US Dept. of Homeland Security
