Features Training for All Levels and Disciplines of Computer Security Professionals
BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cyber breaches continue to occur, to protect critical data organizations need to have highly skilled cyber security professionals. To provide cyber security pros with the essential skills to hone their offensive and defensive tactics, SANS today announced it is heading to Orlando for SANS 2014, its largest computer security training event of the year. Taking place April 5 – 14, this hands-on training event will provide cyber security professionals with cutting-edge techniques to defend their systems from attackers.
For IT professionals looking to break into the field of cybersecurity, the SEC301: Intro to Information Security course is a great start. Attendees will develop the skills to bridge the gap that often exists between managers and system administrators, and learn to communicate effectively with personnel in all departments and at all levels within an organization.
"This class is great for IT professionals looking for their first step towards security awareness. I have been in IT for 17 years and I learned a lot on this first day of class," said Paul Beninati with EMC after taking the SEC301 course.
One of several advanced courses that will be taught at SANS 2014, SEC642: Advanced Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking, is designed to teach the advanced skills and techniques required to test web applications today. This advanced pen testing course uses a combination of lecture, real-world experiences, and hands-on exercises to educate attendees in the techniques used to test the security of enterprise applications. The final day of the course culminates in a Capture the Flag event, which tests the knowledge attendees acquired during the previous five days.
When describing his experience taking SEC642 at a recent SANS training event, Eric Robinson, with Premera Blue Cross, stated "Every SANS course I have taken has been world-class. This one is no different. "
SANS 2014 features more than 40 hands-on technical courses taught by the top-rated instructors in the industry. SANS will host NetWars Tournament Play competition, an intense interactive, Internet based environment for computer attacks and defenses. NetWars will be held on April 10 and 11 which will also include a DFIR NetWars Tournament.
