SANS Announces Course Line-Up for San Diego Cybersecurity Training Event
Emerging Trends Discussions and CISO Hot Topic Series Included Among the High-Level Agenda
BETHESDA, Md., March 9, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the line-up of cybersecurity courses for SANS Security West 2016 taking place April 29 – May 6 in San Diego. SANS will offer more than 20 courses targeted at high-level cybersecurity and InfoSec professionals. Topics will cover IT security, digital forensics, ethical hacking, penetration testing, software security, and security courses for legal and management personnel.
According to Stephen Sims, instructor of SANS' SEC660: Advanced Penetration Testing, Exploit Writing, and Ethical Hacking, "Many cyber-criminals target low-hanging fruit; however, if an attack is targeted and aimed at a specific organization their techniques can become quite complex and highly skilled, such as having the ability to disable Microsoft's Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET). Companies without security experts who are keeping up with these latest techniques, and applying appropriate defenses and mitigations are at greater risk of falling victim to these attacks."
SANS Security West will feature immersion-style security training courses taught by real-world practitioners and interactive bonus sessions. SANS DFIR faculty will unveil their top Emerging Trends in DFIR in a series of hard-hitting lightning talks. This bonus session will offer a glimpse into the near future for incident response, threat hunting, cyber threat intelligence, and digital forensics. The Pen Testing & Hacking Trends Panel with SANS Pen Test Instructors will engage in a lively discussion on trends, sharing tools, tips, and tricks with attendees. SANS will also host a CISO Hot Topic Series panel discussion on how CISO's can communicate effectively with Boards of Directors and CEOs to improve cybersecurity.
