Sandestin Wine Festival raises $20,000 for local charities
Proceeds benefit both Fisher House and Sandestin Foundation for Kids
DESTIN, FL, May 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - The Sandestin Wine Festival, the most established and continuously running wine festival on the Coast, is donating $20,000 to local charities and philanthropic causes.
In its 28th year, the festival continues its commitment to supporting local charities. After a successful event April 10-13, the Sandestin Foundation for Kids was presented with $10,000 and Fisher House of the Emerald Coast was presented with $10,000.
"We are honored that proceeds from this event benefit local charities like Fisher House and Sandestin Foundation for Kids," says Alan Meyers, the Village of Baytowne Wharf executive director. "These organizations are vital to the support of our community and the volunteerism provided for the festival are both crucial to the success of the event."
Kim Henderson, executive director of Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, commented "These donations help support military families staying with us during a medical crisis by providing families with the comforts of home. Comforts such as: hosting birthday and back to school parties for children, providing transportation to school so children do not have to change schools, purchasing clothes and more."
The 2014 Sandestin Wine Festival also provides support to another local program, the Sandestin Foundation for Kids, which assists children in need. Meyers commented, "100% of the proceeds go right back to the community, as there are no administrative expenses, truly making a positive difference in children's lives." Sara Becnel, a representative of the Sandestin Foundation for Kids, said, "We are thrilled to receive a donation from the Sandestin Wine Festival again this year. With donations like this, we are able to continue our effort in helping children and families both locally and around the world."
"Our donations from this year's festival build on those that we have already contributed, and we hope to continue our relationship with these organizations for many years to come," concluded Meyers.
