San Jose City Council Applauds NBC Bay Area's Damian Trujillo
News Reporter Commended for Journalism, Community Service
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Jose City Council has honored NBC Bay Area reporter Damian Trujillo with a commendation introduced by City Councilmember Xavier Campos. The commendation cites Trujillo's "constant support of the Hispanic community and civil rights through his newscasts and work in the farmlands."
In particular, Campos notes Trujillo's deep South Bay roots, his long history of community service and his 15 years as host of the NBC Bay Area public affairs program Comunidad del Valle.
"Damian Trujillo is a prime example of someone who understands the need to uplift the community while bringing light to various social issues in the bay area," said Councilmember Campos. "He is a reporter who understands the importance of ethical reporting and is not afraid to push the envelope to get the truth behind a story. The same principle applies to his show Comunidad del Valle. A show that truly embraces history and culture while giving individuals, non-profits and organizations a chance to promote the good they do in the community. And that is why I am presenting him with a commendation recognizing the great work Damian and NBC Bay Area News does for the Bay Area."
