San Francisco Residents Discover Their Power to End Lupus at Walk to End Lupus Now Event
Golden Gate Park to accommodate more than 1,500 walkers
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This Sunday, October 23, 2016 the Lupus Foundation of America will host its annual Walk to End Lupus Now® event in Golden Gate Park. More than 1,500 people are expected to turnout at the event and experience first-hand the power of the movement to end lupus.
Lupus is an unpredictable and misunderstood autoimmune disease that affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans and 5 million people worldwide. Despite its widespread prevalence, lupus research funding and awareness of its brutal impact remain low.
"While we work to solve the cruel mystery of lupus, we must ensure that all Bay area residents affected by lupus have access to the resources and support they need," said Sandra C. Raymond, President and CEO of the Lupus Foundation of America. "By coming together to raise funds and awareness, Bay area residents are showing their power and support for people with lupus, families, friends and entire the community of those suffering with lupus."
Every dollar raised at the Walk to End Lupus Now brings us one step closer to solving the cruel mystery of this disease. Walk to End Lupus Now events are held in more than 60 cities across the country, making it the largest lupus walk program in the entire country. Register today at walktoendlupus.org/sanfrancisco.
The Walk to End Lupus Now is made possible with the generous support of its sponsors including Coolibar and Anthera Pharmaceuticals. To learn more or to make a donation, visit http://www.lupus.org/california.
