San Diego's Most Sought-After Independent Recording Label - Blazing the Way for a Different Kind of Rap
SAN DIEGO, March 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Intrigue U Records, one of the most sought-after recording labels, had its beginnings in 1998, when two brothers, Glenn "Gee" Crain (CEO) and Kalimant "K.C." Crain (Producer/Songwriter), came together and decided to take their musical skills to the next level. Later, their cousin, Gregg "Big Boy" Curl, joined the two as VP Head of Promotions. Their aim was to bring to the entertainment industry a fresh and new flavor of rap, gospel, and R&B. What makes Intrigue U Records so different? It's not only good music for entertainment, but also conveying an important message.
Together the three manage a roster of artists including; J-Boy, K.C., Kali, Pakman, and 2:Eleven. "It's been a long road, and just like 80% of the world, I grew up without everything handed to me. So I related to music as a way to express my emotions," says J-Boy, one of Intrigue U Records' rap artists. This no doubt shows in his unique style of rap and has captivated audiences since 2001.
Other artists such as K.C., are deeply rooted in gospel, bringing some very serious food for thought into his music. "I feel to get more you must first appreciate what you have so far and humble yourself because easy come, easy go."
Intrigue U Records also enjoys a diverse mixed cultural background with artists such as Kali, who was born in Manila, Philippines. Kali later moved to Long Beach, CA, where early in his career, he performed on the same stage as Snoop Dogg.
Another artist that is significant is 2:Eleven. Using the genre of rap, 2:Eleven is a captivating lyrical storyteller whose goal is to "rob Satan of souls armed with the sword (Bible) and bring them back to the Lord." His music definitely reveals a hard-hitting message to young people about the choices they are making in life and how bad choices can sometimes have a permanent impact on the rest of their lives.
Intrigue U Records has a far-spanning reach with artists, appearing in national media venues such as Steve Harvey Morning Show. In addition, Intrigue U Records has enjoyed global airplay at clubs and radio stations from San Diego all the way to South Africa, as well as the Tijuana Music Awards.
The first single, "Ain't No Stopping," was released in 1999 and was met with a high level of success. Just a year later, "It's My Turn" was released with similar success. Their top seller, "As the World Turns," was released in 2006, which is still selling amazingly well up to this day. They have been featured in magazines such as, "Street Perspective," "Messiah Magazine," "The Underground Railroad Magazine" and "Mandatory Business Magazine." Their newest album, "Mood Swang," appeals to a wide variety of listeners and is now available on iTunes.
