SAN DIEGO, July 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) announced that Dr. Elaine Worzala has been selected to lead SDSU's Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate as the center's director. She will also join the college's finance department as a fully-tenured professor of real estate. She will begin her new position at SDSU on August 16, 2016.
"SDSU's College of Business had engaged in a nationwide search to select a highly regarded leader in the field of real estate academics, who was also a proven success as a center director," said Dr. Mehdi Salehizadeh, chair of the finance department at SDSU's College of Business Administration. "In Dr. Worzala, we have found an experienced university real estate center administrator who also has an outstanding track record as a professor and researcher."
Worzala had previously served as the executive director of the Carter Real Estate Center and professor of real estate at the College of Charleston; as the director of the Richard H. Pennell Center for Real Estate and professor of real estate at Clemson University; and a professor and director of the accelerated masters of science in real estate (MSRE) program at the Edward St. John Department of Real Estate at Johns Hopkins University. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a specialization in real estate and urban land economics.
"San Diego State has been educating real estate professionals since 1959 and I look forward to working with the many SDSU real estate alumni to build upon the already exceptional reputation of the The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate and the real estate program at SDSU," said Worzala. "This large alumni base, along with so many other outstanding industry professionals in the region, will enable our students the ability to interact and network within the industry, ultimately giving our students first-hand experience in the marketplace. It is my personal goal to provide all SDSU real estate students with the real-world experience necessary that makes them ready-to-hit-the-ground-running immediately upon entering the job market."
