San Diego Boca FC Announces Closed Door Scrimmage With MLS's Chivas USA at Carson Home Depot Center
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- San Diego Boca FC today announced today that it will play a closed door scrimmage against Major League Soccer's Chivas USA in Carson, Ca. at the Home Depot Center on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00 am.
San Diego Boca FC, coming off a pre-season 4-0 loss to Vera Cruz of the Mexican Second division takes on Chivas USA led by its first year coach Martin Vasquez. Vasquez recently signed as head coach of Chivas USA after a assistant coaching stint to Jurgen Klinsmann at Bayern Munich in the German Bundesligia.
San Diego Boca will use the scrimmage with Chivas USA as a measuring stick and evaluation for new players looking to break into the 24-man 2010 SD Boca FC roster. Coach Santos will play his top squad for the scrimmage along with several new potential team signings to evaluate what player additions need to be made prior to the NPSL season opener in April against Real San Jose.
San Diego Boca FC Coach Papo Santos commented, "We are excited to play against Chivas USA as they are very talented squad led by a strong coaching staff. We will take full advantage of this scrimmage to evaluate our side and see what our players do and don't do as this is exactly the right type of pre-season preparation we need at this stage of our camp. We like what we saw in our first match against Vera Cruz as it was our first match together this year so the guys are slowly getting to know each other both on and off the field. We will look to continue to strengthen up in all areas of our game so it's up to the guys to show us what they got."
San Diego Boca FC also will hold open tryouts on February 27-28 in San Diego. For more information visit: www.sdboca.com.
