Samuel increases participation in freight car industry - Acquires Stanrail Corporation
TORONTO, March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Wayne K. Bassett, President and CEO of Samuel, Son & Co., Limited, announced the acquisition of Stanrail Corporation, a premier designer, manufacturer and distributor of railcar components effective March 1, 2012.
Stanrail becomes part of the Roll Form Group, a division of Samuel. Located in Gary, Indiana Stanrail employs 122 and operates from a 155,000 square foot facility.
"The acquisition of Stanrail fits well with the Roll Form Group's focus on the freight car industry", said Mr. Bassett.
Rick Balaz, President of the Roll Form Group division, added "Stanrail has a broad customer base in the railway industry that will provide us with a significant opportunity to promote our components within the industry. Stanrail's engineering department will provide the Roll Form Group with enhanced resources in product development".
Stanrail's product offerings include uncoupling levers, boxcar floors, roofs, and doors.
Nancy Beckley will be the General Manager/Controller of Stanrail, a division of Roll Form Group (U.S.) Inc. and report to Rick Balaz.
The Roll Form Group Division of Samuel, Son & Co., Limited supplies a variety of industries with roll formed metal products in four main segments: road and rail transportation, heavy construction building products and custom forming.
Samuel is the 5th largest metal processor and distributor in North American with over 4,800 employees operating from 51 service centers and 43 manufacturing plants as well as facilities in UK, Australia and China.
