WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., June 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung ranks highest among manufacturers of fitness band devices and performs particularly well in styling and appearance, variety of features, battery life and durability, according to the J.D. Power 2015 Fitness Band Device Satisfaction ReportSM released today.
The inaugural report measures overall satisfaction with fitness band trackers among customers who purchased a new fitness band tracker, fitness band tracker with smart features or a smartwatch device within the past 12 months. Satisfaction is examined in nine factors (listed in order of importance): reliability; price/value; ease of use; variety of features; comfort; battery life; durability; styling and appearance; and availability of apps. Satisfaction is calculated on a 1,000-point scale.
"The wearable fitness tracking device industry is taking hold and competition is heating up," said Kirk Parsons, senior director and telecom, media & technology practice leader at J.D. Power. "It is important that device manufacturers focus on offering a product that is reliable at a price that is perceived as good value based on its features. Those that do so early in the game may improve their opportunity to increase satisfaction, customer loyalty and repurchase intention."
Fitness Band Device Brand Satisfaction Rankings
- Samsung (860) ranks highest in customer satisfaction, performing well across all nine factors.
- Fitbit (839) ranks second, performing well in four factors: reliability; ease of use; durability; and availability of apps.
- Overall customer satisfaction with fitness band devices across all brands is 839.
The 2015 Fitness Band Device Satisfaction Report is based on responses from 2,007 customers who purchased a new fitness band tracker, fitness band tracker with smart features or a smartwatch device within the past 12 months.
