Sam's Club to Give $100,000 in Scholarships to Students Attending Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs)
NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam's Club, in partnership with DiversityInc, is offering sophomores and juniors enrolled full-time at a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) the chance to win $100,000 to pay for their education. To enter, each team of up to three (3) students will develop a marketing plan where the theme is "Increasing Sam's Club's Market Penetration of the Latino Population."
To help ease the rising costs of education, Sam's Club is giving students the opportunity to win money for college and build bridges for their communities that will result in substantial savings on household items, cutting-edge technology and other quality products.
"Education is the most important factor in shaping the lives of our young people. Access to a quality education will create a more competitive labor force that will continue to help us to be globally competitive," said Carolynn Johnson, vice president of business development for DiversityInc.
A panel of judges will review all submitted plans and the top five (5) will receive $20,000 each: $15,000 for the student(s) and $5,000 for the college or university. The program will run from January 3, 2011 to May 14, 2011. The winners will be announced live during DiversityInc's Gala Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C. on November 17, 2011 at The Wardman Park Hotel.
