WASHINGTON, May 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Singer/songwriter Mary Lambert will join the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to commemorate the 10th anniversary of National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day on Thursday, May 7, at the Lansburgh Theater in Washington, D.C.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell will present Lambert with a special recognition award for her efforts to promote openness about mental health issues through her interviews and music.
The event, Strengthening Communities by Integrating Care, will focus on how the behavioral health needs of children, youth, and young adults are best addressed through coordination and collaboration. Young adults who participated in previous Awareness Days will showcase cutting-edge strategies for integrating behavioral health in primary care, education, and child welfare settings.
The event will be co-hosted by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), American Psychiatric Foundation (APF), The Clinton Foundation's Health Matters Initiative, and The Jed Foundation.
