Spata brings more than 30 years of service to STV with numerous high-profile projects for institutional, private, government, advanced technology and commercial clients. He has led project teams for Bristol-Myers Squibb, Schlumberger and the New Jersey Public Health Lab, as well as Tishman-Speyer Properties, BMW and Donald Trump.
"Sam's vast experience and international success made it clear that he would be a fine addition to STV," said STV President Milo E. Riverso, Ph.D., P.E. "He will embrace our corporate culture and vision, and he will lead the Buildings & Facilities practice to the next level."
Before joining STV, Spata was a co-director at an international architectural firm, where he initiated a focus on innovative project delivery. Prior to that, he held various positions at a large architectural firm, most recently as senior vice president, where he implemented new practice strategies and, as an advocate of BIM, increased its use companywide. He also led the turnaround of that firm's international division, doubling that practice's annual earnings.
"We are looking forward to Sam bringing his talents to our Buildings and Facilities Division," said Dominick M. Servedio, P.E., STV chairman and chief operating officer. "Under his guidance, the division will continue to grow and succeed."
Spata received his Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in architecture from the City College of New York. He is a registered architect in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, along with several other states. He is a member of the ULI Industrial & Office Park Council, Lean Construction Institute, and the American Institute of Architects. He has spoken on leadership in green buildings and integrated project delivery, among other topics.
