"The world was recently rocked by the Paris terror attacks at the offices of Charlie Hebdo and beyond. We now know that this was an act that was seemingly related to religion. It's an event that's stirred lots of conversation about the role of religion in society --- a theme that's explored in-depth in my novel," Brown explained, adding, "It's a thought that's rather difficult to wrap your mind around. A world without religion --- a new world order --- would lead to such profound transformation in so many areas of life. It's hard to imagine."
Brown's novel, Forgotten Word, traces the story of a detective, Zena McGrath who's summoned to the Vatican to probe the unexpected and very suspicious death of a clergyman. Upon arrival in the Vatican, it quickly becomes apparent that this death isn't isolated. In fact, Zena is promptly summoned to New York City to investigate yet another priest's death.
But en route to the U.S., Zena realizes that there's something more to this case; something evil. And this evil force isn't content to linger in the shadows; it's becoming more prominent and it even seems to be tailing Zena.
Forgotten Word's main character is pulled into a dark, underground world of Satan worship and powerful malevolent forces that threaten to transform our world in a very profound and negative way. The only remedy: a new world order where religion is banned.
This fast-paced story leads Zena to the Holy Land and beyond, as she strives to learn the truth before this powerful evil force gains control and transforms the world as we know it with the second coming with a twist, that will leave most religious organizations in dismay in as to what they should really believe and what they have been taught.
Sam Jane Brown's debut novel has been compared to the works of the now iconic novel by author Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code, as it features many of the same themes, set amidst a rapidly-paced storyline that leaves the reader guessing right up until the very end.
With the recent religion-related terror attacks in London, Forgotten Word and the themes explored therein has gained new relevance. It's a current events tie-in that has many reading groups choosing Forgotten Word as their next title.
Forgotten Word is currently available on Amazon.com. The paperback edition is $12.38 USD, while the Kindle ebook edition is priced at $1.99
Notably, Brown is currently in the midst of penning a sequel.
