Former Cummins Executive believes Nanostellar technologies can significantly improve fuel efficiency and emissions of heavy-duty engines
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nanostellar, Inc., a company developing materials for automotive emissions control and other cleantech applications, announces Samuel D. Hires joins its management team as President, Heavy-Duty Business.
Sam Hires brings to Nanostellar more than 35 years of industry experience at Cummins and Ford in leading heavy-duty diesel businesses and engineering teams. During the last 16 years, as Cummins Vice President, Sam directed the Light Duty Diesel Program, and Engineering Development for both Heavy Duty and High Horsepower Products. Sam also served on several Cummins global joint ventures boards. Sam holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an MBA in Finance.
Sam Hires commented, "I am very excited about joining Nanostellar and helping this incredibly creative and talented team leverage its inventions. Now that Nanostellar has commercialized its technology in diesel cars, heavy-duty and off-road diesel engines represent the next large opportunity. Nanostellar's suite of catalytic materials can be easily adapted for use in heavy-duty engines, while its capabilities in developing innovative new materials are impressive. The recent announcement by Lux Research, naming Nanostellar as one of the two leading emerging catalyst companies is independent confirmation of that."
"We are excited and honored to welcome Sam to our team," said Pankaj Dhingra, CEO of Nanostellar. "Sam brings to Nanostellar years of experience, credibility and contacts in the heavy-duty industry. Now that the light duty diesel automotive manufacturers have already commercialized Nanostellar's technology, we must broaden our focus to include the heavy-duty and off-road industry. With Sam's help, we expect to make fast progress in getting our solutions accepted and commercialized by the heavy-duty industry."
