CARNEGIE, Pa., June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After an in-depth program study and years of planning, another piece of The Salvation Army's Allegheny County facilities puzzle is in place. The organization's Chartiers Valley Service Center is now located in Carnegie at 225 West Main Street in the former Black Swan Gallery, near the fire department. The new 3,100-square-foot space replaces the former Worship and Service Center that was located at 505 Washington Avenue in Carnegie.

"We are excited about our new location and our potential for delivery of service," said Fran Brace, The Salvation Army's Director of Development and Service Extension. "We will provide a host of social support services including food and energy assistance, Project Bundle-Up, Camp Allegheny and back-to-school help for kids and of course Christmas assistance," said Brace. The Sunday worship services will continue at the old facility until late summer when the future Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Corps is relocated to 1060 McNeilly Road in Mt. Lebanon.
The Salvation Army's Chartiers Valley Service Center is led by director George Barron and is assisted by Mary Zassick-Austin. "George and Mary make an exceptional team," related Brace. "They both hit the ground running and have a heart for serving others. We and the community are blessed to have them both."
The public is invited to attend a celebratory open house on Tuesday, June 28th from noon until 2:00 p.m. at the new 225 West Main, Carnegie location. For more information, call the Salvation Army Chartiers Valley Service Center at 412-276-4757.
