WASHINGTON, Oct. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National nonprofit organization Help Hospitalized Veterans (HHV) presents Salute To America—Washington, the final stop in HHV's 2015 Salute To America Concert Series. The event kicks off veterans week activities honoring America's veterans. The family-friendly concert is on Sunday afternoon, November 8, 2015 at DAR Constitution Hall, 18 Street NW & C St. in Washington, DC. Doors open at 1 p.m.; preconcert activities begin at 2 p.m.
The concert is presented in partnership with AMVETS, a national veterans service organization. "We all have a responsibility to the servicemen and women who protect our freedoms," said AMVETS National Executive Director Stewart Hickey. "AMVETS is grateful to highlight and support veterans of all generations. We are delighted and proud to partner with HHV in honoring and celebrating Vietnam veterans this Veteran's Day weekend."
The grand finale concert is also presented in cooperation with the Department of Defense 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War and Soldier's Wish, a nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of military service members and veterans.
"The date and location of our final 2015 Salute To America concert is purposeful, appropriate and poignant," said HHV's Chairman of the Board, John (Jack) M. Meagher, Judge (retired), who is also a Vietnam veteran. "Each concert honors our veterans and we are proud to recognize the achievements of those who have made this the 'land of the free.'"
Award-winning television news anchor, Leon Harris, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Harris' work has earned him multiple honors, including CableAce Awards for Best Newscaster and several Emmy awards. Salute To America—Washington will highlight chart-topping, American pop and rock band, The Grass Roots. The iconic rock group Jefferson Starship will headline.
The 2015 Salute To America concert series signifies HHV's association with the Commemorative Partner Program and its mission to organize memorable events and activities that recognize the contributions of our Vietnam veterans. This season, nearly 10,000 veterans and their families have enjoyed this FREE event.
