'Salute from the Shore' Returns This Independence Day
Visitors and residents along the South Carolina coastline welcomes military flyover honoring armed forces and veterans
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2014 Salute from the Shore flyover returns for its fifth year to the shores of South Carolina on Independence Day, honoring those serving in the armed forces and our veterans.
A military flyover will take place July 4, 2014 and pass over the Myrtle Beach area shores around 1 p.m.
Organized by a grassroots group of patriotic South Carolinians, 'Salute from the Shore' provides an opportunity for individuals, friends and families to salute armed forces while vintage aircrafts fly along South Carolina's coast.
"Salute from the Shore is our way of celebrating and commemorating the men and women who currently serve and have served in the armed forces," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "Given our strong military roots as the former site of the Myrtle Beach Air Force base, there is no better place to commemorate Independence Day than on the beaches of Myrtle Beach, S.C."
The 2014 flyover schedule is as followed:
- 1 p.m. – Cherry Grove Pier
- 1:02 p.m. – North Myrtle Beach
- 1:05 p.m. – Apache Pier
