Sallie Krawcheck and Earl Lewis to Join 2U, Inc.'s Board of Directors
LANDOVER, Md., Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 2U, a leading provider of cloud-based software-as-a-service solutions that enable leading nonprofit colleges and universities to deliver their high-quality education to qualified students anywhere, today announced that it intends to expand its board of directors and will then appoint two new members to fill those seats: Sallie Krawcheck and Earl Lewis.
Sallie Krawcheck, a renowned executive and thought leader in the financial industry, is the former president of Bank of America's Global Wealth & Investment Management division. Prior to joining Bank of America, she was CEO and chairman of Citi Global Wealth Management, CFO of Citigroup Inc., and CEO of Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Krawcheck has been named numerous times to Fortune's "50 Most Powerful Women in Business," and Forbes' "World's 100 Most Powerful Women" lists. She is currently the owner of the global women's professional group, 85Broads. Krawcheck received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Earl Lewis became president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in 2013, following eight years as provost, executive vice-president for academic affairs, and chief academic officer at Emory University. A recognized leader of education on a national level, Lewis has served on the U.S. Department of Education's National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity; has held faculty appointments in African American studies and history at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Michigan and Emory University; and served as dean of the University of Michigan's Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. He is the author or editor of more than three dozen books and articles on varied topics, such as urban studies, race and higher education. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and history from Concordia College, and a master's degree and doctorate, in history, from the University of Minnesota.
