Salient Partners Names J. Philip Ferguson To Board Of Managers

HOUSTON, May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Salient Partners L.P. (Salient), a $17 billion asset management firm, is today announcing the appointment of J. Philip Ferguson as the newest member of Salient's Board of Managers.

Mr. Ferguson's career in the financial industry spans 45 years and includes executive positions at firms including Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, and AIM Capital Management. He also has served on the Boards of the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO) and the Investment Adviser Association.

Mr. Ferguson began his career in 1967 in the banking industry and moved shortly thereafter to the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. He went on to join Goldman Sachs in 1975, where he served as a Vice President in the firm's Houston office before becoming a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers in Houston in 1984. Mr. Ferguson was a Managing Director at Beutel, Goodman Capital Management and, more recently served as Chief Investment Officer at AIM Capital Management in Houston until 2007. He is a member of the board of directors of ABM Industries (NYSE: ABM) and serves as a consultant in the asset management industry, currently advising Houston's Ascendant Advisors, LLC.

Mr. Ferguson served on the UTIMCO Board of Directors from 2003 to 2009. He was elected Vice Chairman in 2008 and was Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Board's Policy and Risk Committees.

Mr. Ferguson has also been active on the boards and investment committees of many civic and charitable organizations, including the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Houston Ballet, the St. John the Divine Endowment Fund, and the Memorial Hermann Foundation which supports medical research, education and patient care.

A life-long Texan, Mr. Ferguson earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Texas Christian University, law degree from the University of Texas Law School, and a Certificate in International and Comparative Law from the City of London College.
