FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. (Salient), a leading provider of information technology, training, engineering, and intelligence analytics services, announced its Data Analytics Center of Excellence team, Cindy Walker and John Blatchford, will present at an upcoming meeting of Tableau users from federal financial regulatory and Treasury agencies. The topic is "Using Tableau and Advanced Analytics to Predict Financial Risks." This meeting will be held at FDIC's Hove Auditorium at 3501 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA., 22226 on Thursday, August 20th 08:00 – 12:00PM EDT.
In the five years since President Obama signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, officially making it a federal law, there have been disagreements and delays in implementing some key aspects of the legislation. There is evidence that greater transparency and data sharing, coupled with data analytics, can enable early identification of financial risks, improve federal spending efficiency, and reduce improper payments across government agencies. This meeting offers participants from federal financial regulators and Treasury agencies a chance to discuss challenges, share lessons learned, and collaborate with advanced analytics experts to accelerate progress in these areas.
Ms. Walker and Mr. Blatchford will examine some of the key risks and issues that pose threats to the safety and soundness of financial institutions. They will demonstrate Agile advanced analytics techniques and Tableau visualizations that can aid in predicting and mitigating these risks that could develop into systemic issues.
"Regardless of the ultimate fate of the Wall Street Reform legislation, we strongly believe, and can demonstrate evidence, that advanced data analytics supports earlier identification, analysis, and mitigation of financial risks and fraud detection and prevention efforts," states Cindy Walker, VP of Salient's Data Analytics Center of Excellence. "This meeting will provide participants the opportunity to meet industry experts who are committed to helping federal financial regulators take advantage of advanced data analytics to predict and proactively address these risks."
"Our Agile approach to advanced analytics enables rapid, low-risk delivery of powerful analytics capabilities," states John Blatchford, Director of Agile Business Intelligence in Data Analytics Center of Excellence. "We embrace and extend the plays in the U.S. Digital Services Playbook so that our clients can have ready access to advanced analytics solutions quickly and affordably."
Ms. Walker is a recognized industry speaker and trainer at national and international conferences and workshops with over 25 years of information management and data analytics expertise. Mr. Blatchford has over 25 years of technical management experience in the full system life-cycle of large volume billing, multi-terabyte enterprise data warehouse, and managing large business intelligence programs.
