ALBANY, N.Y., May 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The College of Saint Rose announced today that it has received gifts totaling almost $4 million that will support student learning.
One gift of $1.5 million, the largest of these newest donations, will be used to establish an endowed scholarship for students studying in the Saint Rose School of Mathematics and Sciences. A second gift of more than $1 million will endow a scholarship for students studying elementary education in the Thelma P. Lally School of Education. And a third gift of more than $1 million can be used at the College's discretion.
The College is respecting the wishes of the donors that their identities remain anonymous. The gifts have come from alumni, as well as a parent of a former student. The almost $4 million in just a four-month period represents a 21 percent increase over the average full-year figure for the past four fiscal years.
"Endowing a scholarship can literally change young people's lives and ensure that the world will have an opportunity to benefit from the development of their talent. Through their generosity, these three donors are not only investing in the success of our students, they are investing in the future of Saint Rose. Their gifts will enable the College to move forward with incredible momentum," said Saint Rose President Dr. Carolyn J. Stefanco.
"It shows the wide support of Saint Rose from our entire community that these gifts have come from a parent of a former student and from alumni," said Ian Farrell, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Saint Rose. "The funds will be transformational for generations of Saint Rose students. We are tremendously thankful for the thoughtful generosity of these amazing donors. Their gifts represent a heartfelt investment in the future of this very special institution."
