SAIC's Dixie Baker Named Federal 100 Winner by Federal Computer Week
Health Business Chief Technology Officer Honored for Contributions to Federal Information Technology Community
MCLEAN, Va., March 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced that Federal Computer Week has named Dixie Baker, Ph.D., to its list of leaders who made significant contributions to the federal information technology community during 2009. The annual listing recognizes 100 individuals from government, industry and academia. Baker and the other winners will be honored during a ceremony on March 22 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C.
A technical fellow and senior vice president, Baker serves as chief technology officer for SAIC's Health Solutions Business Unit. She is a recognized leader in information protection, high-assurance architecture, and health science systems, and has significantly contributed to technology standards for the safe and secure use/exchange of electronic health information. Baker's work has helped make processes more efficient and secure, enabling health care providers to provide patients with a higher quality of care and reliable privacy protection.
Baker was named last year to the national Health IT Standards Committee, established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. That committee is a federal advisory body responsible for making recommendations on standards, implementation specifications and certification criteria for the electronic use of health information. Baker chairs the committee's Privacy and Security Workgroup. In 2009, Baker was named a Fellow of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, and she chairs its Privacy & Security Task Force.
