SAIC Wins $42 Million Task Order to Support Environmental Protection Agency Data Centers
Company to Provide Hosting Services to National Computer Center
MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a task order by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide hosting services to the agency's National Computer Center. The task order has a one-year base period of performance, five one-year options, and a total value of more than $42 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed in Washington, D.C.; Research Triangle Park, N.C.; and other EPA locations. The task order was awarded under the Information Technology Services-Environmental Protection Agency II (ITS-EPA II) Blanket Purchase Agreement.
The applications hosted in the National Computer Center and other regional EPA data centers collect, process and disseminate large amounts of environmental data in a secure fashion. These systems are used by a wide variety of stakeholders, including EPA researchers and enforcement personnel, state and local governments, and the public. Under this task order, SAIC will support the agency's efforts to increase service levels and improve cost efficiencies by providing a range of hosting services. These will include server, storage, high-performance computing operations, facility management and disaster recovery services.
"SAIC has a long history of support to the EPA and understands the important role information technology infrastructure plays in support of the agency's mission to protect human health and safeguard the environment," said Doug Wagoner, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to providing environmentally friendly, cost efficient and agile data center services to EPA's programs."
