SAIC To Establish Cybersecurity Research And Development Center In Australia
MCLEAN, Va. and MELBOURNE, Australia, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI), a FORTUNE 500® scientific, engineering, and technology applications company, announced today it has initiated plans to expand its current Australian operations to include a regional cybersecurity research and development (R&D) center in Melbourne, Australia. The center will focus on R&D in new technologies and applications that mitigate risk, protect critical data and establish a comprehensive defense against cybersecurity attacks for commercial and public sector networks worldwide. This move by SAIC's US and Australian cyber research organizations closely mirrors the cooperation between the two national governments and multiple federal agencies.
SAIC's researchers in its Melbourne R&D center will conduct advanced research in data mining and analysis systems, as well as development of software applications associated with CloudShield® Technologies, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAIC, and TeraText® product lines. The center will provide a collaborative space for SAIC researchers to develop hardware and software to protect information and critical infrastructure from cyber attacks.
The cybersecurity R&D center will enable SAIC to better support its efforts for Australian government and industry clients, while also focusing on new initiatives and opportunities around the National Broadband Network (NBN).
"SAIC's research efforts in Melbourne will enable us to offer innovative products and solutions to our customers and to further expand into the global marketplace," said Steve Rizzi, SAIC vice president and regional manager.
