MCLEAN, Va., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today that Tony Moraco, executive vice president for operations and performance excellence, has been appointed to president of SAIC's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Group, effective immediately. Moraco is currently responsible for enterprise-wide business support in information technology, facilities, security, program execution, procurement, shared services and operational initiatives.
"Tony has done an outstanding job driving efficiency and effectiveness at SAIC, and he is deeply experienced in supporting our customers in the vital national security areas of ISR," said CEO John Jumper in announcing the appointment. "These qualifications combine to make him the best choice for this job."
In his new role, Moraco will lead nearly 13,000 analysts, scientists, engineers, and business professionals providing support for customers across the full spectrum of national security programs including cybersecurity. He succeeds Stu Shea who was named SAIC COO on March 5.

Moraco previously served as senior vice president and both general manager and deputy of SAIC's Space and Geospatial Intelligence Business Unit, where he led the mission system solutions and services portfolio for the US Air Force space programs, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and other elements of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense (DoD).
Prior to joining SAIC in 2006, Moraco was with the Boeing Company from 2000 to 2006, and served as the deputy general manager of The Boeing Company's Mission Systems in the Space & Intelligence Systems organization and also was the director of Homeland Security Technology Integration. In these roles he led strategic programs in space ground segments and geospatial technology solutions and the technology development of security solutions for Homeland Security customers to complement Boeing's Defense and Intelligence programs in support of the global war on terrorism. He also held senior corporate positions at Autometric, Inc. and program management roles at TASC.
Moraco earned a bachelor's and master's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the Virginia Tech civil and environmental engineering alumni board. He is also on the national board of directors for Operation Homefront, which provides emergency assistance to military families and wounded warriors.
