SAIC Helps Fight Hunger with Feeding America

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Every day, one in six people in the United States is at risk of hunger and may be forced to forgo purchasing food to make ends meet. Regardless of age, race, and economic background, more than 46 million people each year rely upon help from Feeding America and its 200 member food banks throughout the country.

In September, Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAIC) joined Feeding America in its fight against hunger, contributing $160,616, which equals 481,848 meals for food insecure Americans across the country. SAIC donated $100,000 and employees raised $60,616 through Feeding America's Give A Meal Team Challenge, an online donation campaign. Every dollar raised helps provide 3 meals to individuals and families facing hunger. Throughout the month, SAIC employees also wore orange to support Hunger Action Month^TM, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action for the issue of hunger.

Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity and a current SAIC strategic philanthropic partner. Its mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage citizens in the fight to end hunger.
