SAIC Completes Acquisition of Vitalize Consulting Solutions, Inc.
MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Vitalize Consulting Solutions (VCS), Inc., a leading provider of clinical, business and information technology (IT) services for healthcare enterprises.
VCS primarily serves customers in the commercial hospital market that are implementing electronic health record (EHR) products and systems, providing a range of services including strategic consulting, system implementation and operational improvement. The company specializes in the implementation and optimization of EHR systems from major commercial-off-the-shelf vendors, as well as others within the ambulatory and practice management arenas.
The deal enables SAIC to expand in the commercial health provider market and leverage its information integration and data analytics expertise with VCS' healthcare IT and clinical workflow optimization capabilities to further grow as commercial and Federal health markets converge. Approximately 600 VCS employees have joined SAIC's Health Solutions Business Unit (HSBU), led by Steve Comber. HSBU is a part of the Health, Energy and Civil Solutions Group, led by SAIC Group President Joe Craver.
"We welcome VCS and its employees to SAIC, and look forward to combining our capabilities to better serve our federal and commercial customers through the implementation of commercial EHR products and solutions," said Craver.
Comber agreed, adding that the acquisition of VCS adds significant depth to SAIC's EHR capabilities.
"VCS brings a long history of excellent service to its commercial customers, and we are pleased to have them join our team," he said. "As government organizations increasingly adopt COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) EHR solutions, the combination of SAIC's established customer base in government and Vitalize's strong commercial EHR implementation capabilities will help create a synergistic set of business opportunities in the future."
Terms of the all-cash deal were not disclosed.
