MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Department of the Navy has awarded Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract to continue to provide Program Objective Memorandum (POM) assessment planning and warfare support analysis to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. The contract has a period of performance of five years and a total contract value of $167 million. SAIC is one of three awardees and task orders will be awarded as firm-fixed-price or cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts.
The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations consists of the Chief of Naval Operations, the senior military officer in the Department of the Navy and the principal naval adviser to the Secretary of the Navy and the President on the conduct of war, and a subordinate staff that includes the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, the Deputy Chiefs of Naval Operations, the Assistant Chiefs of Naval Operations, and a number of other officials and staffs collectively known as OPNAV.
Under this contract, SAIC will provide OPNAV's Assessment Division (N81) with a comprehensive methodology and supporting review process that assists in defining the U.S. Navy's warfighting capability and capacity requirements for warfighter preparedness. SAIC will also assist in identifying short and long-term capacity and capability shortfalls or gaps, and quantitative/qualitative measures suitable for supporting value-based trades between disparate components of the Navy.
"SAIC is proud to continue our important support to OPNAV N81 for program planning and warfare support analysis. This program is critical in helping the Navy properly plan for current and future efforts to ensure a consistently high state of readiness," said Tom Watson, senior vice president and general manager of the Navy and Marine Corps Customer Group.
