SAIC Awarded Contract to Support U.S. Air Force Distributed Common Ground System
Company to Provide Technical Services in Support of Full Motion Video Processing, Viewing, and Exploitation
MCLEAN, Va., June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a follow-on contract by the U.S. Air Force (AF) Warner Robins Air Logistics Center to provide support to the AF Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) Video Processing Capability (VPC) enterprise architecture. This single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total value of more than $49 million, if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Dayton, Ohio.
The Air Force Distributed Common Ground System is the service's premier globally networked intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance weapon system. The DCGS produces intelligence information collected by the U-2, RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-9 Reaper and MQ-1 Predator. Approximately 700 gigabytes of information flow through the system daily – equivalent to more than 700 copies of the Encyclopedia Britannica. Under the contract, SAIC will support the AF DCGS video processing capability by providing technical services in support of the systems ability to process, view, and exploit full motion video provided by the unmanned aerial vehicle and sensor platforms operated by the intelligence community.
