SAIC Awarded Contract To Support the U.S. Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP)
Company to Provide Technical Services in Support of the NAVICP TARP (Technical Assistance for Repairable Processing) Program
MCLEAN, Va., April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded, in a competitive solicitation, a prime contract by the Fleet Industrial Support Center Norfolk Det Philadelphia for the Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) to provide technical services in support of the TARP (Technical Assistance for Repairable Processing) program. The follow-on, single award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options and a ceiling value of more than $47 million, if all options are exercised.
NAVICP provides Navy, Marine Corps, Joint and Allied Forces program and supply support for the weapons systems that keep our Naval forces mission ready. The organization does this by procuring, managing, supplying and repair scheduling for spare parts to support naval aircraft, submarines and ships worldwide. NAVICP also provides logistics support to allied nations through the foreign military sales program. Under the contract, SAIC will provide technical services in support of the TARP program. This includes training and hands-on assistance to help enhance and sustain the Naval logistics pipeline both within and outside the continental United States, afloat and ashore, including combat areas such as Afghanistan. SAIC will also work to help NAVICP reduce repair costs and lead-times, while minimizing the investment in required inventory to sustain warfighting operations.
"NAVICP is responsible for more that 400,000 supply items, including repair parts, components and assemblies for ships, aircraft and weapons systems – approximately $15.5 billion in inventory," said Glenn San Giacomo, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We are pleased to continue our collaboration with the U.S. Navy as we work together to improve the reverse logistics and packaging of Naval assets, while reducing costs and increasing efficiencies."
