SAIC Awarded Contract by U.S. Department of Energy
Company to Provide Environmental Clean-up Services in Support of DOE's Environmental Management Program
MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to provide environmental clean-up services to the Office of Environmental Management (EM). The multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a five year period of performance and an estimated maximum total value of $907 million for all awardees.
The mission of the EM program is the environmental remediation of DOE sites throughout the nation. Central to that commitment is the remediation of contaminated sites from nuclear weapons research and production, and the disposal of the resulting radioactive and hazardous waste. Under the contract, SAIC will provide services as required including environmental restoration, waste management, regulatory support, and facility deactivation, decommissioning, decontamination and demolition services. SAIC is one of 11 awardees that will compete for task orders under this contract.
"SAIC has supported the DOE EM program since its inception in 1989, and we understand the importance of EM's mission to clean up the environmental legacy from nuclear weapons development and nuclear research," said JT Grumski, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to continuing our support of EM by providing effective solutions for the remediation of DOE sites nationwide."
