MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a follow-on contract by the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) to provide ammunition operations and maintenance services to the Department of Defense (DoD). The single award blanket purchase agreement (BPA) has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options and a contract ceiling of $21 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Chambersburg, Pa., Alexandria, Va., and Huntsville, Ala.
AMC is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness – technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment – to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations. Under the contract, SAIC will continue to provide operations and maintenance support services as required in support of the National Level Ammunition Capability (NLAC) operations, including implementing new technologies to help enhance activities. As part of the effort, SAIC will continue to integrate ammunition asset, transportation, and catalog data into a web-based system that includes numerous decision support tools.
"We look forward to continuing our support of AMC and the larger DoD ammunition community by providing the tools necessary to achieve comprehensive ammunition asset and in-transit visibility and management services," said Glenn San Giacomo, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
