SAIC Awarded Contract by Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
Company to Provide Hazardous Materials Management and Disposal Services
MCLEAN, Va., March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide hazardous materials management and disposal services at all TSA airport operations and facilities. The single-award contract has an overall period of performance up to five years, including options, and a contract value of more than $46 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed at all TSA continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, South Pacific, and U.S. Virgin Islands airport locations.
TSA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that protects the nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. Under the contract, SAIC will provide hazardous materials management and disposal services, including: regulatory support to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulations; treatment, storage, and disposal facility due diligence audits; development, management, and operation of an online documentation and recordkeeping system; emergency and spill response support; development and execution of training programs; and final treatment and disposal of more than 1.5 million pounds of hazardous waste per year.
