SAIC Awarded Contract by Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division
Company to Provide Advanced Engineering and Technical Services in Support of the U.S. Navy Ship Signatures Directorate
MCLEAN, Va., July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock Division to provide advanced engineering and technical services in support of the U.S. Navy Ship Signatures Directorate and signature silencing programs. The single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a one-year base period of performance, two one-year options, and a contract ceiling of more than $36 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Long Beach, Miss., and Poulsbo, Wash.
NSWC Carderock's Ship Signatures Department is responsible for the development of signature reduction technology to support Navy surface ship and submarine program goals. It also operates and maintains major acoustic research and development facilities. Under the contract, SAIC will provide advanced engineering and technical services, including system development support for software and hardware systems; installation, validation and operation of measurement systems; and strategic planning in support of signature measurement systems for naval ships and undersea systems at its acoustic measurement facilities.
