MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it was awarded a prime contract by the Naval Medical Logistics Command to provide research and development (R&D) services in support of the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL). The single-award, cost-plus fixed-fee contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total contract value of approximately $22 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn.
The NSMRL is the only U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery dedicated research institution for submariner performance. Research and testing conducted under this contract will be broad in scope and encompass a wide range of disciplines, covering all aspects of submariner wellness, submariner psychological factors, shipboard force health protection, human factors, and undersea warfighter capabilities.
