SAIC Awarded $89 Million Delivery Order To Support Key Air Force National Security Initiatives
Company to Support Implementation and Compliance of International Treaties and Agreements, Arms Control Monitoring, and Space Policy Development
MCLEAN, Va., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] today announced it has been awarded a delivery order to support the U.S. Air Force (AF) Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Strategic Plans and Policy Division (AF/A5XP) by providing professional and information technology (IT) services in support of AF national security initiatives. The delivery order has a five-year period of performance and a total value of more than $89 million. Work will be performed primarily in the Washington, D.C., area, and at Air Force locations as required. The delivery order was competitively awarded by the U.S. General Services Administration Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM) under the Mission Oriented Business Integration Services (MOBIS) and Information Technology Schedule 70 contracts.
AF/A5XP is the AF focal point for ensuring compliance with all arms control treaties and agreements, to include the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) and the Chemical Weapons Convention, which prohibits the development, production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons. It is also the integrator for AF counter chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons policy. Under the contract, the SAIC team will provide professional and IT services in support of AF implementation and compliance of international treaties and agreements, and to support improvements in AF capability to combat weapons of mass destruction. The SAIC team will also help advance AF air and space sovereignty efforts, as well as support AF Integrated Air and Missile Defense objectives.
