SAIC Awarded $37 Million Task Order to Support Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division
Company to Provide Engineering and Technical Support to NSWC's Power, Energy and Interconnect Technologies Division
MCLEAN, Va., July 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a task order by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division to provide engineering and technical support to NSWC's Power, Energy and Interconnect Technologies Division. The task order has a two year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total value of more than $37 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Crane, Ind. The task order was awarded under the U.S. Navy's SeaPort-e contract.
NSWC's Power, Energy and Interconnect Technologies Division (code GXS) focuses on emerging technologies that represent leading edge fields of study that will produce power sources for the next generation of military systems. The division is home to the Department of Defense's (DoD) largest collection of electrochemical storage, printed circuit board, and power electronics resources. In this capacity NSWC Crane's code GXS provides support to programs for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Missile Defense Agency. Under the contract, SAIC will support the division by providing services in areas including research and development; prototyping; fabrication; modeling and simulation; logistics, interoperability testing, and quality assurance. Specific technologies SAIC will be providing engineering support for include circuit boards, batteries, fuel cells, power supplies, alternative energy, and advanced energy storage.
